Aspiring writer, keen philosopher, deep thinker and loves to travel…

Abraham Lincoln once said: “it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” And that, to put it simply, is why I decided to curve away from the traditional path of school followed immediately by university and instead take a gap year. I just feel like this earth has so much to offer, so much I want to see and explore and I just wanted to get out there and commence that exploration as quickly as possible.

I also love to think deep about the small stuff, to contemplate life and death and what our mortality really means and so if that’s something that interests you too, you might just be in the right place. Self-isolation

I really thought self-isolation would be a breeze. For an introvert, staying at home and not even having to muster an excuse to turn down a party invitation seems like a dream, but I quickly came to realise that being forced to stay home is very different to choosing to stay at home. You see, … Continue reading “Self-isolation”

Memories…

Sometimes we wish we could take away parts of our past, start fresh. But there are no fresh starts in life. Your past makes you who you are. Your past will shape your future. But sometimes we need to forget, let the memories fade, because dwelling too intensely on the past can compromise our peace … Continue reading “Memories…”

Immortality…

Immortality. The ability to live forever. Eternal life. Impossible for mankind yet what we all secretly crave. The fear of death terrifies us all. It scares every one of us. And that’s why we resort to hiding, conforming to societal expectations and huddling up beside every other equally broken person. The idea of being alone … Continue reading “Immortality…”

Time…

After death, time will still pass and, the earth will still spin and, the sun will still shine and, children will still grow and, hearts will still stop. But without you, time doesn’t exist, without you, time is nothing. Because when the red within turns cold, when eyes lose their glimmer, and the body becomes … Continue reading “Time…”

Loneliness…

Loneliness is lying in bed and checking your phone every three seconds for that notification that never seems to come. Loneliness is finally feeling that buzz only to discover it’s a spam email. Loneliness is wanting so desperately to contact people but forcing yourself not to because they might not want to talk to you. … Continue reading “Loneliness…”

Death…

There’ll come a time when every single one of the 7 billion people currently living on earth will be dead and replaced with an entire new generation. Think about that for a second. Everyone you see today will soon die. And you’ll never know anything about anyone. Every day you walk past people, oblivious to … Continue reading “Death…”

Your future…

I’m currently a little lost about what I want to do when I’m older – just trying to take it one step at a time. Again, I’m hoping that as I go through life, I’ll start to discover more about myself and about what I want my purpose to be. I feel like when I … Continue reading “Your future…”

Anxiety…

I’ve battled with anxiety for most of my life and (like every other person with anxiety I’ve met!) have spent countless nights contemplating what my life might be without it in it; what I could be, what I could have become. And although it’s important to focus on the negative aspects, I also think taking … Continue reading “Anxiety…”

Motivation for change…

Any time I feel emotions intensely, I try to convert these emotions into words. Save them, store them, so to speak. This is a piece I wrote when I was feeling incredibly motivated, when I felt like I was destined for positive change and greatness… “This is only the beginning. This is the start of … Continue reading “Motivation for change…”
